CORDWAINER STREET WARD. One of the 26 wards of London, and so named of Cordwainers or Shoemakers, currier and workers of leather dwelling there* (*Rate-books of St. James's). Stow enumerates two churches in this ward: - St. Anthony, Watling-street; St. Mary-le-Bow, Cheapside; both rebuilt by Wren after the Great Fire.
