CORNHILL (WARD OF). One of the 26 wards of London, and "so called," says Stow, "of a corn market time out of mind there holden, and is a part of the principal high street."* (*Stow, p.71). Stow enumerates two churches in this ward:- St. Peter's-upon-Cornhill; St. Michael's-upon-Cornhill; both destroyed in the Great Fire, and rebuilt by Wren.
