THE WOMEN AND THE ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH

The Electric Telegraph Company has organised a band of female Clerks to work the Electric Telegraph. It is a happy idea to turn the gentler sex to account by employing the ladies in a task which will give full scope to their love of rapid talking- We have known and (unhappily) heard tongues that can go at a tremendous rate, but to talk as quick as lightning is a luxury that the women have not yet been able to enjoy, and we doubt not that there will be a rush of gratuitous Clerks, when it is generally known that females may have the opportunity of talking by Electric Telegraph.
